Sheriff’s Pursuit and Standoff End with Two Found Dead Inside Hughson Home

Shortly before 1:30pm on Wednesday, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputies were responding to the area of Eaton Road for a report of a male subject who was armed with a handgun and was threatening suicide. As deputies were responding, the reporting person stated the subject left the Eaton Road and was headed to an unknown location. Deputies still responded to the area to attempt to locate the subject.

According to Stanislaus Sheriff’s Department Deputy Royjinder Singh, a Deputy spotted a vehicle that matched the description of what the suicidal subject was driving. The Deputy started following the vehicle and waited for back-up units. Once back-up units arrived from the Sheriff’s Department and the Highway Patrol, Deputies attempted to make a car stop to check on the subject’s welfare. The subject failed to stop and continued driving southbound on Geer Road. The subject turned Westbound on E Hatch Road and then Southbound 7th Street into the City of Hughson. The subject then pulled into the driveway of a home in the 1800 block of 7th Street, exited the vehicle and ran inside of a home.

As deputies arrived and started surrounding the home the suspect ran into, they heard several gunshots from inside the home. An adult female ran out of the home and told deputies outside that other people were still inside the house.

The Sheriff’s Department SWAT Team was activated and responded to the scene. Once the SWAT Team arrived, they made entry into the home the suspect was last seen going into. Once inside, the team located two adult males dead inside and both appeared to have gunshot injuries. Nobody else inside the home and no officers or deputies were injured during the incident.

Sheriff’s Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident. Detectives are not releasing the identities of the two victims found inside the home until next of kin have been notified.
