On Saturday, February 25th, 2023, at 11:05 pm, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported assault with a firearm in progress in front of a residence in the 400 block of Locust St, Turlock.

While officers were responding, they were advised by their dispatchers that they were hearing shots being fired through the phone. They were then advised that an involved vehicle had been involved in a collision.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a black 2008 Lexus IS that had collided with a parked vehicle in the 100 block of Vermont Ave. The Lexus was still running and its rear wheels were actively spinning. The Turlock Fire Department arrived and secured the vehicle.

Based on shell casings located at the scene, officers believe that someone had fired several rounds toward the street from the front yard of a residence. Officers also believe that the incident was a drug deal that had gone wrong due to a large amount of marijuana being found in the Lexus.

Officers spoke to witnesses in the area who stated that they had seen three subjects running away from the vehicle eastbound on Vermont Ave just after the collision.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call Officer Benjaman Silva at 209-668-6528.
