Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Offers New App for Victims

The social media effort to combat crime and criminal activity was given another tool recently with a launch of a new app for iPhone and Android smartphone users from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.

The new mobile app stems from the Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) system, which directly informs crime victims of changes in the custody status of criminal offenders.

With the introduction of VINEmobile, it’s even easier to find out the status of an offender and register to be notified about custody status changes. VINEmobile is the on-the-go version of VINE, available as a on the Sheriff’s website, which lets citizens access vital information about criminals arrested in the community. VINEmobile is free to crime victims and is anonymous for users.

“The Sheriffs in California are concerned about the safety of our victims and due to prison and jail overcrowding, many criminal offenders are released early”, said Sheriff Adam Christianson, “VINEmobile is another tool to help our victims while keeping communities safe and informed”.

The app also has links and access to victim’s services, resources and emergency numbers along with public safety announcements.
