Office supply chain Staples, Inc., announced it will be closing 225 stores in North America by the end of 2015 in a detailed fiscal report released Thursday.

An employee at Turlock’s Staples branch confirmed Thursday that the local store will not be among those closing. It will, instead, begin a remodel this year.

The fiscal report explained the closures as necessary following declines in sales from 2012 to 2013, even in regards to online sales.

The office supply retail chain’s sales growth was also negatively affected by approximately one percent due to 63 store closures during the 12 months preceding the fourth quarter of 2013.

Still, the 63 closures were not enough to heal the chain’s economic woes, as sales for the fourth quarter of 2013 were at $2.0 billion, a decrease of seven percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2012.

The Turlock branch expects to begin its remodel next month.
