State Senator Cannella’s Voting Record Lauded

The National Federation of Independent Businesses/California has given State Sen. Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) a perfect score for his 2012 voting record.

The NFIB annually ranks state legislators on their votes. Cannella earned 100 percent on the 13 vote scorecard for 2012, and authored one of the bills mentioned – SB 1327, which established a one-stop website to help individuals with licensing, permitting, and registration requirements to start a business.

“As a small business owner, I believe there is much the state government can do in order to strengthen the environment to allow small business to grow,” Cannella said.. “I am truly honored that NFIB not only recognized my voting record, but highlighted one of my bills. I look forward to working to improve the business environment for small business in 2013.”

NFIB is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization which advocates public policy issues on behalf of small and independent business owners. NFIB has existed since 1943.

The nonprofit's work is particularly important in California, representatives said, as the state's business climate is among the worse in the nation due to high regulatory costs.

But some the work of some legislators, like Cannella, may improve business for California's 3.4 million small businesses, NFIB/CA Executive Director John Kapateck said.

“Sen. Cannella has been a strong proponent of California’s small businesses since joining the Senate,” Kabateck said. “We look forward to his continued support during the 2013 legislative session.”
