Student stabbed at Turlock High Friday morning, suspect arrested

On Friday, November 5th, 2021, at 8:58 am, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported aggravated assault that had just occurred at Turlock High School, 1600 E Canal Dr, Turlock.

The School Resource Officer, Jessica Clark, was already at the school and on her way to the office after staff had requested her there for a student with an injury. As soon as the call was dispatched, she diverted to the actual location of the stabbing as there was information that the suspect was still there.

As she arrived in the area, she saw the suspect with a hand injury being transported by school staff to the office as they thought that he was the victim. She immediately took him into custody without further incident after realizing that he was the suspect.

Firefighters and paramedics arrived at the office shortly later where they found the victim. He suffered major life threatening injuries and was airlifted by CALSTAR Air Medical Services to a local hospital. He is currently in stable condition. The suspect also suffered moderate non-life threatening injuries and was ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital.

Officers began investigating and determined that the two involved parties, who were both juvenile males and students at the school, had gotten into a physical altercation at one of the sports fields. At some point during the altercation, the suspect had pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times.

The identities of both involved parties will not be released as they are juveniles.

Officers remained on scene for several hours processing the scene, collecting evidence, and identifying witnesses. The school was placed on lockdown during the first hour and half of this to preserve evidence.

After the suspect was released from the hospital, he was booked into the Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on charges of attempted murder.

The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call Officer Kevin Blanc at 209-668-6540.
