Suspect Attacks Victim with Axe Handle, Arrested

A male suspect attacked a victim with an axe handle after engaging in a verbal argument over a female on Monday afternoon, but the suspect was ultimately arrested the next day.

Turlock police responded to the area of West Linwood Avenue and South Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m.

The male suspect and victim were engaged in a verbal argument over a female, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

According to Lewis, the argument escalated until the suspect hit the victim with an axe handle.

The victim was hit several times on the head and the body, said Lewis.

The suspect originally fled the scene, but the victim knew the attacker and identified him as Aundre Rawlings, 20, said Lewis.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Turlock Police Department received information on the possible whereabouts of Rawlings.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Lander Avenue, where they contacted Rawlings and arrested him for assault with a deadly weapon.
