On Sunday, March 12th, 2023, at 1:39 am, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Turlock Senior Center, 1191 Cahill Ave, Turlock.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a small debris pile burning against the building, charring the exterior wall and causing it to turn black. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and prevented it from doing any interior damage to the building.

Upon further inspecting the property, firefighters located a second debris pile that had been on fire at one point up against a different side of the building. The pile and circumstances were identical to the first, indicating that both fires had been intentionally set and were likely meant to burn the building down.

The Turlock Police Department and Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigations Unit responded to investigate.

An officer checked the area for any possible suspects, however, was unable to locate any.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigations Unit at 209-525-5537.
