Turlock police arrested a male subject on Jan. 13 after responding to a domestic violence call.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of Magic Sands Way shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday after police had received a report of an intoxicated male with a loaded rifle.

The female victim who reported the incident was able to escape from the residence, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

When officers arrived, they were able to talk the suspect, later identified as Mark Colvard, 51, out of the home, said Lewis.

However, Colvard did not comply with officers once out of the residence and began to resist arrest, according to Lewis. Colvard refused to listen to commands and kept pulling away from officers, reports the Turlock Police Department.

Officers ultimately deemed it appropriate to tase the suspect in order to bring a peaceful resolution to the incident.

Colvard was arrested and booked for being a felon in possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.
