Suspect Tased After Resisting Arrest

A suspect was tased by officers on the night of Nov. 5 after she allegedly physically resisted authorities trying to place her under arrest.

Denise Evans Trepel, 51, was arrested and booked for public intoxication, resisting arrest, and threatening a peace officer.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Park Street on the report that Trepel had been continuously harassing the reporting party.

According to Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis, Trepel had been harassing the victim to the point of knocking on the victim’s door and allegedly challenging the victim to fight.

When officers arrived, Trepel was allegedly visibly intoxicated and was unable to take care of herself, based on her actions, said Lewis.

While the officer was attempting to place Trepel under arrest, she allegedly physically resisted, said Lewis. Ultimately she was tased and taken into custody.

Trepel was examined by American Medical Response and hospital staff before she was booked, but no injuries were noted, said Lewis.
