While responding to a disturbance at a local eatery on Friday, officers arrested two suspects, one of whom was wanted for the burglary of a bike.

Officers responded to a disturbance at the Jack in the Box at 100 N. Golden State Blvd. around noon Friday.

While on scene, John Gonzalez, 36, rode up on a green mountain and went inside the restaurant. Shortly after, Gary Reinhardt, 21, rode up on a black Giant mountain bike and flipped it over in the planter next to a patrol car.

Gonzalez was a known suspect, as the prior night he had been seen riding the Giant mountain bike that was ridden by Reinhardt, which had been reported stolen.

Officers contacted Gonzalez the night before while on the bike, however when they ran the serial numbers it came back clear as it had not yet been reported stolen, said Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.

Later, when the bike was reported stolen by the owner, officers recognized that it was the same bike ridden by Gonzalez and were asked to be on the lookout for him, said Webb.

Recognizing Gonzalez, officers ran the serial of the bicycle and it came up stolen and was the same one previously ridden by Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was arrested and booked on suspicion of the prior burglary.

While detained, Reinhardt attempted to dump a bottle of Tramadol and methamphetamine, but officers were able to recover it. He was was cited and released for possession of the methamphetamine and pills.
