Target, MLB Seek “All-Star Teacher” Nominations


Target, Major League Baseball and PEOPLE Magazine have teamed up to support the All-Star Teachers Campaign, which celebrates remarkable current and retired teachers who make an impact on the lives of students and communities.

Nominations are currently open until May 6. To nominate a teacher, Turlockers may visit http://mlb.mlb.com/allstar-teachers/ .

MLB, Target and PEOPLE will review nominations and select three teachers per MLB team, with the 90 finalists to be announced on June 5.

From June 5 through June 29, fans can visit AllStarTeachers.com to read each nominee’s story, and to vote for their favorite teachers. The 30 winners, one representing each MLB team, will be announced during All-Star Week.

All winners will be included in All-Star Week activities, and will be recognized during the pre-game ceremony of the 2014 MLB All-Star Game in Minnesota. One winner will be featured in PEOPLE during the week of the MLB All-Star Game.

Throughout the past several months, TurlockCityNews.com readers have supported Turlockers in numerous contest and fundraisers, leading to an overall win in the Scotties Trees Rock video contest for Walnut Elementary School and Turlock High School’s Relay For Life Club surpassing its fundraising goal of $15,000.
