On Thursday, November 17th, 2022, at 9:12 pm, Turlock Police officers near the intersection of Countryside Dr and Retreat Dr, Turlock, observed a gray Chrysler sedan rear-end a blue Nissan SUV and begin to flee the scene at a high rate of speed southbound on Countryside Dr.

The officers got behind the vehicle and attempted to stop it, however, it took off on them and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit went eastbound on W Tuolumne Rd and then southbound on N Golden State Blvd. Officers lost sight of the vehicle near Dels Ln, however, another officer reacquired it as it continued southbound past Geer Rd. That officer also lost it after it blew a red light at E Olive Ave and continued southbound. The pursuit was terminated at that point.

A few seconds later, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s airship spotted a very hot vehicle go over the S Golden State Blvd overpass and then turn southbound onto Golf Rd. The airship then observed the vehicle pull into an orchard in the 11300 block of Golf Link Rd, just south of E Clausen Rd, and its driver exit it and begin crouching underneath a tree.

Officers quickly arrived in the area, set up a perimeter, and had the sheriff’s airship give orders to the suspect, later identified as Jaime Nuno, 18, of Ceres, to surrender over their public address system. He eventually went out to officers and surrendered after seeing a police canine ready to bite him.

The original pursuit’s duration was only about two minutes and speeds reached an excessive of 80 miles per hour. During the pursuit, Nuno cut several vehicles off, changed lanes without signaling, and ran several red lights. The time between the start of the pursuit and Nuno’s capture was about 13 minutes.

Nuno was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of flight from a peace officer with disregard to public safety, hit and run causing property damage only, and driving without a valid driver’s license.

No one was injured in the original collision and the damage caused was very minor.
