On Wednesday, October 12th, 2022, at 4:51 pm, a Turlock Police officer near the 1700 block of Greenhills Dr, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The officer made contact with and identified the vehicle’s five occupants, including two teenage passengers, a 15-year old and a 14-year old.

The officer had his dispatcher run all five of the vehicle’s occupants and the 15-year old returned to be on searchable juvenile probation.

The officer removed all of the vehicle’s occupants so that he could conduct a probation search of the 15-year old and while doing so, conducted a quick pat down search of everyone for weapons. During a pat down search of the 14-year old, the officer discovered a ghost gun loaded with an extended magazine.

A ghost gun is a firearm without a serial number that is typically self assembled at home, essentially making it untraceable.

The 14-year old teen was arrested and booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on charges of possession of live ammunition by a minor, possession of a handgun by a minor, carrying a loaded firearm, owning a firearm or firearm precursor part that does not bear a valid serial number or mark of identification, and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
