The Infamous Kando arrested on felony warrant Thursday night

Pumpkin Patch Turlock- R.A.M. Farms, Inc.

On Thursday, April 21st, 2022, at 10:14 pm, a Turlock Police officer near QuikStop, 1260 Geer Rd, Turlock, saw the infamous Donald Kando, 42, of Turlock, standing in front of the business and had his dispatcher run his information.

Kando returned with a felony warrant for a drug related charge after he failed to appear in court on Wednesday, April 13th, for a Proposition 36 hearing.

Proposition 36 allows for certain non-violent drug offenders to complete a drug treatment program within an allotted time frame in lieu of jail time. Kando likely failed to attend and complete a drug treatment program, which is likely why he did not show up for his Proposition 36 hearing, thus resulting in the warrant.

By the time the dispatcher aired Kando’s return, the officer had left the area. When the officer went back to QuikStop to find Kando, Kando was gone. Officers searched the area and Kando was found sitting down across the street in the parking lot of Century 21 Real Estate, 1351 Geer Road.

Next to where Kando was sitting, officers located narcotics.

Kando was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of a controlled substance and his warrant.

Kando is a well known drug addict and panhandler within the Turlock community. At times, he can be aggressive towards children, the elderly, and women while panhandling, which is likely why he has gained such a bad rap within the Turlock community. He has been arrested several times since his first case in 2007 for a variety of drug, property, and sex crimes. He recently served a year long jail sentence for violating the terms of his sex offender registration and was released in October 2021. This is his second known arrest since then.
