At about 2:04am Saturday morning, Officer Ayala made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a California Vehicle Code violation in front of Martinez Car Wash in the 2500 block of W. Main Street.
Ayala made contact with and identified the vehicle’s three occupants, driver Matthew Aure, 35, of Modesto, passenger Kevin Wellington, 35, of Modesto, and passenger Danielle Anderson, 32, of Turlock.
Anderson lied about who she was and gave someone else’s actual name and date of birth.
When Ayala had his dispatcher run the three, he discovered that Wellington had a $5,000 local misdemeanor bench warrant for possession of a controlled substance and was on searchable probation for possession of a controlled substance or drug paraphernalia in a prison or jail.
Due to Wellington’s searchable probation status, everyone was removed from the vehicle so that a probation search could be conducted.
During the search, officers located drug paraphernalia and also noticed a pepper spray canister on the vehicle’s keychain.
Ayala had his dispatcher pull Aure’s rap sheet and it indicated that he was a convicted felon, making him prohibited from possessing pepper spray. He was arrested.
During a search of Aure’s person incident to arrest, more drug paraphernalia was located.
Officers then searched a purse that was within the vehicle and located an identification card that had a photo of someone who appeared to very closely resemble Anderson.
Anderson’s lie was discovered and she turned out to have a $2,000 local misdemeanor bench warrant for theft and possession of drug paraphernalia, and a $30,000 misdemeanor bench warrant out of Tuolumne County for driving under the influence of drugs, falsely identifying to a peace officer, driving with a suspended license, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also on searchable probation for reckless driving and escaping from custody.
Aure, Wellington, and Anderson were all arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, Aure on charges of possession of a tear gas weapon by a convicted felon or person convicted of an assault crime, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance, Wellington on his warrant, and Anderson on the charge of false personation, as well as her warrants.
