As the deadline to file nomination papers for the elected positions of Turlock City Council and Turlock City Treasurer approaches, three more City Council Candidates have officially joined Council Candidate and Parks & Recreation Commissioner Steven Nascimento in the race, while only one candidate has officially filed to run for City Treasurer. The deadline to file the nomination is Friday, August 10th, at 5pm.
Sergio Alvarado, a newcomer in local political races, filed nominations papers on Wednesday, August 8th., while both incumbent Councilwomen, Amy Bublak and Mary Jackson, filed their nomination papers on Thursday, August 9th, as they seek re-election for their positions on the City Council.
Turlock Parks and Recreation Commissioner Steven Nascimento was the first to file his nomination papers on July 23rd. He is also the first candidate to begin the campaign process for the November election by placing political signs around the City of Turlock.
Although Dr. Ashour Badal, a professor in the College of Business Economics at California State University Stanislaus, pulled nomination papers on July 20th, he has not officially filed them with Turlock City Clerk Kellie Weaver as of Thursday, August 9th at 7:30pm.
Incumbent Turlock City Treasurer Diana Lewis, who is seeking re-election as City Treasurer, officially filed her nomination papers on Monday, August 6th.
The nomination-filing period for City Council candidates opened on July 16, 2012, and will close this Friday, August 10th at 5pm.
