TID Donates 39 Computers to Fusion Charter School

Fusion Charter, Turlock’s newest seventh through 12th-grade school, received a boost Friday when Turlock Irrigation District delivered a sizable donation of 39 Dell desktop computers.

TID spokesperson Calvin Curtin says the computers were going to be e-recycled but it occurred to him it would be more beneficial for the community if they were donated and he thought of Fusion Charter, which had previously reached out to TID for support.

The computers had been utilizing the Windows XP system, but recently TID moved to the latest version of Windows and no longer needed the 39 computers.

Fusion Charter Principal Siobhan Hanna appreciated the donation.

“We are so excited and its heartwarming to know that community feels our students are important,” she said. “Our students are currently using Chromebooks but we want to set up a computer lab in our library and the students can use these computers to work with [staff] on developing job skills, applications, explore school and career options, as well as complete their online school work.”

Fusion Charter serves nearly 140 students between seventh and 12th grades in an alternative educational environment.

TID wants the community to know that if any other organizations in the TID service area have needs, they can reach out to the District by contacting Curtin at ccurtin@tid.org
