TID Extends Irrigation Season

The irrigation season was extended by the Turlock Irrigation District Board of Directors at Tuesday’s Board meeting.

The irrigation season was authorized to last until October 31, an 11 day extension. The extension would mean that TID would distribute an additional 16,000 to 25,000 acre feet of water from this date but still under the projected amount of distribution for the year due to this year’s weather.

The full extension may not be needed depending on the weather but approval until October 31, 2010 was approved.

The last day to place irrigation orders is now Thursday, October 28th and TID will start shutting the gates at Turlock Lake on November 1st. The goal is to have Turlock Lake at 12,000 acre feet on November 1st.
