TID Power Outage in Downtown Turlock, Golden State Boulevard Closed

Early this morning, messages of a power outage in Downtown Turlock were sent to TurlockCityNews.com by business owners and operators who could not open for their customers and clients due to not having electricity.

Centralvalleytv reported a traffic alert for Turlock early this morning on its Facebook page that a vehicle collision near Golden State Boulevard and Crane Avenue had damaged a power pole, live wires were down, and to expect the intersection to be closed for at least 4 hours.

Facebook commenters were reporting that they heard the accident but times vary from between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.

The Turlock Police and Turlock Irrigation District both have not released any information regarding the accident or the power outage.

Bistro 234 executive chef LeRoy Walker came to work to find the power was out at 7:30 a.m. and told TurlockCityNews.com that he was informed by the workers on scene that the power would be restored by around noon today.

“We will open as soon as power comes back on,“ Walker said. “That’s all I can do.”

Studio 2307 hairstylists Ashton Silva and Taylor Nylund both showed up to no power as well and were told varying times of when the power would be restored.

“One of the guys wearing an orange vest at the scene said at 9 a.m. that the power would be restored in about four or five hours, and then said 2 p.m.,” Silva said. “Most of my clients were coming from out of town and we all can’t wait around so I had to rebook them for tomorrow.”

Dana McGarry, owner of Emporium, located at 228 East Main Street, reported at 10:35 a.m that her power was on.

TID crews were on scene with a replacement power pole on a truck trailer but had yet to remove the downed power pole lying in the middle of Golden State Boulevard.

Golden State Boulevard is closed to through traffic between Main Street and Marshall Street, in front of the Turlock Convention and Visitors Bureau and Central Park.

No accident or power outage information could be obtained from the Turlock Police Department or Turlock Irrigation District. TID’s power outage web page did not have any information as well.

More information will be published on TurlockCityNews.com as it is released by the organizations handling the incident.
