Those traveling on Golden State Boulevard between Hawkeye and Almond avenues should expect to see a bit more traffic through the end of May.
Construction at the intersection of Golden State Boulevard and Dels Lane began on Monday and will continue through May 30. The work will see a new traffic signal installed at the intersection.
The traffic signal will create a three-way stop at the intersection of Golden State Boulevard and Dels Lane, said Stephen Fremming, City of Turlock Associate Civil Engineer.
Dels Lane will be closed between Golden State Boulevard and Hawkeye Avenue during the duration of construction. Detours will be provided.
Currently, Golden State Boulevard is reduced to one lane in each direction between Hawkeye and Almond avenues.
Fremming assures that Golden State Boulevard will not be completely closed at any time during construction; there will be at least one lane open in each direction at all times.
Along with construction of the traffic signals, Golden State Boulevard will be getting a small area repaved. The existing asphalt will be ground down, then two inches of new asphalt will be laid on top, said Fremming.
However, the portion being repaved will be small and “pretty localized to the intersection,” Fremming said.
There will also be a rehabilitation of the sidewalks in the area and the portion of northbound Front Street that turns into Golden State Boulevard will be resurfaced.
Despite many changes to the area, the portion of Front Street that turns into Golden State Boulevard is expected to remain the same, said Fremming.
