Traffic Advisory: Fire Closes Road on Clifford Avenue, West Main Street Remains Open

The Turlock Fire Department has responded to a fire at an abandoned house on the corner of West Main Street and Clifford Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. Fire engines currently block through traffic on the 100 block of Clifford Avenue, while through traffic remains open on West Main Street.

As of 11:15 p.m., firefighters had put out the fire and were making sure the fire was thoroughly extinguished.

The abandoned residence, next to the Assyrian Pentecostal Church on West Main Street, has burned a few times in as many years, according to Battalion Chief Gary Carlson.

Initially, the fire appears to have started in the basement.

The cause is unknown at this time. No injuries have been reported.
