Turlock police and firefighters have responded to a report of a pedestrian being hit by a train.

A train was stopped at West Canal Drive and North Front Street at around 10:50 a.m.

Police located a body about a block away from the Canal Drive crossing near North 1st Street and Julian Street, under the train.

Indications suggest the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries.

The train has remained stopped at the scene as authorities are investigating.

Train track crossings are closed at Fulkerth/Hawkeye and Golden State Boulevard, W. Canal Drive and First Street, and Broadway Avenue and Golden State Boulevard.

The circumstances surrounding the incident were unclear at time of publication.
