Traffic stop leads to two warrant arrests early Thursday morning

On Thursday, May 26th, 2022, at 2:07 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Almond Ave and Souza St, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The officer made contact with the vehicle’s three occupants and identified them, which included the driver and his two passengers, Richard Barrera, 28 of Delhi, and Brandon Huggins, 30, of Turlock. The officer then had his dispatcher run all three subjects.

Barrera returned with a no-bail felony warrant out of Stanislaus County for domestic violence, assault, child abuse or endangerment, and vandalism related charges, while Huggins returned with two misdemeanor warrants out, one out of Merced County and the other out of El Dorado County for contempt of court and obstruction of justice related charges.

Both Barrera and Huggins were arrested on their warrants, Barrera was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center while Huggins was released on a citation.

The driver was lectured and released for his California Vehicle Code violation and his vehicle was impounded due to its registration being expired for over six months.
