Traffic stop results in arrest for three weapon felonies early Thursday morning

On Thursday, August 25th, 2022, at 2:35 am, a Turlock Police officer near the 1100 block of Alexander Ct, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The officer made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver as Kenneth Alsip, 42, of Turlock.

The officer then had his dispatcher run Alsip and he returned to be on searchable probation for grand theft.

A subsequent probation search of Alsip’s vehicle was conducted which led to the discovery of a flare gun, a wooden billy club, and a knuckle knife.

Flare guns meet California’s definition of a firearm and thus since Alsip is a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing one.

Alsip was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or person addicted to a narcotic, possession of a leaded cane, possession of metal knuckles, driving without a valid driver’s license, and driving a vehicle with lighting equipment not maintained in good working order.
