Traffic stop results in two warrant arrests, including felony assault one Tuesday afternoon

On Tuesday, October 18th, 2022, at 12:56 pm, Turlock Police investigators near the intersection of E Linwood Ave and Lander Ave, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so they made a traffic stop on it.

The investigators made contact with and identified the vehicle’s two occupants, driver Oscar Cruz, 41, of Turlock, and passenger John Padilla, 56, of Modesto.

When the investigators had their dispatcher run the two, Oscar returned with three misdemeanor bench warrants for traffic related charges and Padilla returned with a $125,000 local felony warrant of arrest for assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.

Both Cruz and Padilla were arrested on their warrants, Cruz was released on a citation while Padilla was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
