Train vs. Pedestrian– Front St. (South of Fulkerth Rd.)

Update 02-11-10: The 30 year old man hit by a train on February 10th died at the hospital he was transported to. His name is being withheld pending the notification of family.

Today (02-10-10) at approximately 9:04am, Turlock Police responded to a call of a pedestrian hit by a train. The individual was located and found to be suffering from life threatening injuries. He was transported to an area hospital and his current condition is unknown. He has been identified as a male adult 30 years old from the Turlock area. His name is being withheld pending the notification of family.

 
The preliminary investigation indicates that witnesses observed the male running towards the train tracks as a train (5 cars in length) was approaching. The male ran onto the train tracks and continued running in a southerly direction as the train which was also traveling southbound at approximately 50 mph hour, was blowing its horn and activated its emergency braking. The subject was struck by the train and thrown clear of the railroad tracks.
