Transient Arrested After Domestic Violence Incident Outside City Hall

IMG_0169-1

At about 9:58pm Wednesday night, Turlock Police responded to an assault and battery that had just occurred in front of City Hall in the 100 block of S. Broadway.

The caller reported that her ex-boyfriend, John Cunningham, 35, of Turlock, had pushed her, pulled her hair, and dragged her before walking off.

An officer met with the victim and requested American Medical Response to check her out due to an injury.

Officer Khounlivong then located and contacted Cunningham at Fourth Street and A Street.

Cunningham was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.

It’s worth noting that Cunningham and his ex-girlfriend are both transients who sleep in front of city hall on a nightly basis. They’re regularly contacted by police for various quality-of-life issues and Cunningham has previously been arrested for disorderly conduct after being contacted by the Chief of Police as he was leaving a city council meeting.
