At about 4:22am Saturday morning, Turlock Police Officer Kauffman got out with a city ordinance violation in front of Lisa’s Cookie Jar in the 100 block of S. Broadway.
Kauffman contacted Sammie Lawrence, 36, of Turlock, who had set up a tent in front of the business, blocking half the sidewalk.
Other officers had contacted Lawrence and another transient around the corner on two separate occasions just a few hours prior, for doing the same thing in front of California Couture.
They were told to move along, but all Lawrence did was relocate his tent in front of Lisa’s.
Lawrence was cited for unlawful camping, in violation of section 5-20-02 of the Turlock Municipal Code.
