|

On Monday, October 31st, 2022, at 11:55 am, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a reported trespass in progress at a residence in the 2100 block of S Golden State Blvd, Turlock.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found and made contact with a man on the property later identified as Francisco Cardenas, 38, of Delhi.

Cardenas told deputies that the property was his and that he owned many other properties.

Cardenas then ordered that deputies leave the property, challenged them to a fight if they didn’t, and began walking towards the residence.

Cardenas eventually stopped, turned around, and began to fight deputies. Deputies had to use a TASER conducted energy weapon to subdue Cardenas and detain him.

When deputies identified Cardenas and had their dispatcher run him, he returned with a no bail felony bench warrant for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger and violation of post release community supervision.

During the fight, the Turlock Police Department was requested to respond and assist. A responding Turlock officer found and made contact with Melissa Brooks, 37, of Turlock, who was near the incident and appeared to be involved.

When the officer identified Brooks and had his dispatcher run her, she returned with two bench warrants. The first one was a local misdemeanor one for possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia, while the second one was a $50,000 felony one out of Tuolumne County for child abuse or endangerment under circumstances likely to produce great bodily harm or death and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, Cardenas on charges of obstructing or resisting an executive violence by means of threats or violence and trespassing, as well as his warrant, and Brooks on her warrants.
