On Tuesday, July 20th, 2021, at approximately 11:10 pm, the Turlock Fire Department received a call of a grass fire threatening Denny’s located at 1991 Lander Ave. The Turlock Fire Department’s Battalion 4, Engine 31, and Squad 32 were dispatched along with the Turlock Police Department to assist with evacuating the business and traffic control.
Squad 32 arrived on scene a couple minutes later to find the fire between the Denny’s and the northbound State Route 99 on-ramp. Captain 32 assumed command and had crews begin attack. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished without reaching the structure.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. No injuries were reported.
