Turlock Armed Robbery / Carjacking / Kidnapping / Assault with a Deadly Weapon

TURLOCK, CA – On Monday, September 29, 2008, four college students were in their residence in the 3700 block of Fosberg when two men forced their way into the home at gunpoint. One female resident was able to flee out the backdoor while two other females and a male victim were forced to the ground. One of the suspects was an acquaintance of the male victim.

The three victims were forced to an upstairs bedroom where the suspects again ordered them to the ground at gunpoint. The male victim struggled over a weapon with one of the armed suspects. The suspect reportedly struck the male victim several times in the face with a handgun.

The two suspects reportedly took numerous items from the victims and the residence including a shotgun. Two suspects waited outside in a white Toyota Camry which served as the “get away” vehicle.

As the two suspects were leaving the residence, an uninvolved silver Dodge Charger pulled up to the residence occupied by two people. The passenger got out of the vehicle, saw the armed suspects leaving the residence, and fled on foot. One of the suspects got into the white Toyota Camry while the other suspect got into the passenger seat of the uninvolved silver Dodge Charger. The suspects in the white Toyota Camry sped away from the residence. The suspect in the passenger seat of the silver Dodge Charger pointed a handgun at the driver and ordered him to follow the white Toyota Camry.

Turlock Police received the report at 6:24pm.

At 6:39pm Turlock Police located the silver Dodge Charger on E Warner Road east of Geer Road. The driver of that vehicle was detained, questioned, and released. The investigation revealed that the driver of that vehicle was a kidnapping victim forced at gunpoint to drive one the suspects to that area. The suspect took the driver’s wallet, car keys, and other personal items before exiting his vehicle and getting into the white Toyota Camry with the other suspects. The white Toyota Camry and four suspects fled that area just prior to the police locating the silver Dodge Charger.

At 9:39pm Turlock Police officers located the white Toyota Camry in the parking lot of Motel 6, 250 S. Walnut. Five people, including the four original suspects, were detained. One individual was released without charges. Another individual, a 16 year-old female juvenile, was arrested for possession of stolen property and an unrelated outstanding juvenile warrant.  The three other original suspects were taken into custody without incident. Those arrested include:

  • Dani Hana (20 year old male from Turlock)

  • Humberto Ibarra (20 year old male from Turlock)

  • Antonio Mejia (20 year old male from Turlock)

All three individuals were booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges of felony residential robbery in the first degree, four counts of felony kidnapping, felony assault with a firearm, and felony carjacking. Booking photos will be available later in the day through the Stanislaus County Jail.
