Turlock Business PAC to Hold Public City Council Candidates Forum

The Turlock Action for Business Political Action Committee, known as the TABPAC, will be holding a Turlock City Council Candidates forum this Wednesday, September 12th. The public event will take place at Covenant Village, Berg Hall, located at 2125 North Olive Ave, and will run from 6pm to 8:30pm.

All four candidates, Councilwoman Mary Jackson, Councilwoman Amy Bublak, Steven Nascimento and Sergio Alvarado, have confirmed that they will be attending and participating in the event. Each candidate will have 5 minutes to make an opening statement. The moderator, Mike Lynch, will then proceed to ask each candidate three questions, in which they will have four minutes to respond to each.

After the prepared questions, the audience will then have the opportunity to submit questions to the candidates. The questions from the audience will be written on a 3”x5” note card and passed to the moderator, and each candidate will have three minutes to answer. Following the audience open forum, each candidate will then be given three minutes each for his or her closing statements.

“Our elected officials must address the concerns of Turlock local business,” stated Chamber of Commerce CEO Sharon Silva. “Through this effort, the Chamber can act as a consensus builder expressing the concerns of the business community to our elected officials.”

“One of the major goals outlined since 2006 and at the 2012 Board of Directors retreat, is to increase our advocacy efforts on behalf of the Chamber members,” Silva stated. “This mandate includes steps to strengthen business presence in local government and encourage changes in public policy that effect chamber members.”
