A young boy got stuck in the mud on Tuesday night in Turlock, and had to be rescued by the Turlock Rural Fire Department.
CentralValleyTV reported that rescue crews were tending to a boy stuck waist-deep in mud in the 800 block of East Harding Road around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The boy had already been rescued from the mud when TurlockCityNews.com arrived on scene.
Rescue teams were able to pull the boy out of the mud moments after arriving. The boy did not need medical attention following his rescue.
The boy’s mother, Amber Largent Bailey, told CentralValleyTV that her son had gone into the field next to their house to catch a cat that had gotten out.
She added that her son “just sank fast.” When they tried to pull him out, she also began to sink into the mud.
Chrissy Largent Veldstra, the boy’s aunt, told CentralValleyTV that the cornfield where the boy was stuck had just been irrigated and the boy didn’t realize it when he went out there.
“He definitely understands not to go out there anymore, that’s for sure,” added Bailey.
