Turlock Firefighters Annual Boot Drive a Success

Turlock firefighters battled a different kind of heat to raise money for their “Random Acts of Kindness” fund on Saturday.

Firefighters of the Turlock Firefighters Local #2434 took to Monte Vista Crossings with boots in hand to raise money, and raised $9,991 for their efforts.

“It was a success and (are) very thankful we have a very generous community,” said Capt. Frank Saldivar of the Turlock Fire Department.

All of the money raised during Saturday’s boot drive went to the “Random Acts of Kindness” fund. The fund donates money to help displaced families, set up scholarships, and put on Every 15 Minutes events at local high schools.

In recent months, funds from the “Random Acts of Kindness” fund were donated to replace the bleachers at the Julien Elementary Baseball Diamond after metal thieves stole the bleachers on Feb. 20.
