The Holiday season brings out the best in Turlock, year-in and year-out. This year is no different.

The Active 20-30 Club of Turlock and Local Warriors Club both raised money this year to provide underprivileged Turlock children with all-expenses-paid shopping indulgences. The Local Warriors held their shopping trip at Kohl’s on Tuesday, evening, and the 20-30 Club held theirs at Target on Wednesday.

Each group helped a select group of children; the 20-30 Club provided $150 worth of clothes for 53 Turlock Unified School District students and the Warriors Club provided $100 for 15 students from Chatom Elementary and Mt. View Middle School. Members from both clubs took children through the retail stores in search of warm winter clothing

For the members, the annual shopping trips are a treat they look forward to year after year.

“This is my favorite event because the smiles on the faces of the kids,” said Warrior Larry Cook.

Of course, the money for the clothing comes from significant fundraising efforts, which as anyone knows is a blessing as well as a headache.

“This is out biggest spending event and we hold two large fundraisers during the year. This makes it all worthwhile. The kids and families are so grateful for this and we love giving them this opportunity,” said 20-30 Turlock President Megan Bernard.
