Turlock High student commits suicide Monday morning

On Monday, March 22nd, 2021, at approximately 9:30 am, the Turlock Police Department received a call of an attempted suicide in the 1300 block of East Ave. The Turlock Police Department responded along with American Medical Response and the Turlock Fire Department’s Battalion 4 and Engine 33. The caller reported that her child, a 14 year old female shot herself in the head.

When the first officer arrived on scene, she located the child still breathing with a self inflicted gunshot wound to her head. Fire and medical units arrived on scene shortly after and immediately began lifesaving efforts. The child was loaded onto an ambulance and transported to a local area hospital accompanied by two Turlock firefighters. Unfortunately, despite all lifesaving efforts, the child succumbed to her injury.

In a statement, the Turlock Unified School District confirmed that the child was a student at Turlock High School and identified her as Emily Gonzalez, 14, of Turlock.
