The City of Turlock is hiring for a part-time Animal Service Assistant, paying from $9 to $10 per hour.

Previous experience working with animals in either an animal shelter environment or in an animal services environment is highly desirable. The position requires possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. and a valid California driver’s license.

The position's essential functions include receiving and dispatching complaints and concerns of the public by phone or in person, assisting with daily care and control of animals, monitoring animal foods, operating a cash register, data entry and administration of medication. Additional duties may include tranquilizing animals with a tranquilizer gun and issuing court citations relating to animal control enforcement.

Minimum qualifications include a knowledge of various breeds of domestic animals, routine care and feeding of animals, the ability to deal with the public, basic animal collection methods, basic computer skills and cashiering skills.
