Turlock Library Events in August

The Turlock Library has a variety of free programs for all ages planned for the month of August.

On Aug. 9, anyone is welcome to created Upcycled Pencil Cases at 4 p.m. VCR cases among other materials will be used by crafters to make pencil cases. Children under 4 years of age will need direct parental supervision to participate.

Wednesday, Aug.10, the Turlock Library’s Teen Advisory Board will meet at 4 p.m., teens will be able to earn community service credit and share ideas on library programs and books for teens.

All ages are invited to participate in the Paver Painting Fun program, scheduled for Aug.16, at 4 p.m. Templates and designs will be provided to make pavers to decorate porches, place in gardens, or use as doorstops. Supervision is required for anyone 4 years of age or younger.

The Sensory Play program on Aug. 17 will give kids the opportunity to explore different textures by participating in several activities at 10 a.m. Sensory play improves science learning and discovery, stimulates brain development, and encourages learning about different textures. All children must be directly supervised.

Adults can learn how to identify fall risks in their home with the Turlock Library and the Healthy Aging Association for “Healthy Aging: Fall Prevention” on Friday, Aug. 19, at 10:30 a.m. Participants will also learn about habits to avoid, and discover ways to improve balance by being physically active.

Aug. 23, at 4 p.m., children are invited to build and play with LEGOs. Children under 4 are welcome to participate but require direct parental supervision.

Families are invited to attend Family Game Day on Aug. 30, at 4 p.m., for an hour of classic board game play.

Programs held at the Turlock Library are sponsored by the Friends of Turlock Library. The library is located at 550 Minaret Avenue.
