Turlock Library to Host Book Club, Craft Day, LEGO Fun

Alex Cantatore|

The Turlock Library is the place to be for fun games and crafts this winter. There will be a number of events hosted in the library this upcoming February, so be sure to mark those calendars.

Starting off the month with a bang is a Book Club Discussion on Feb. 5. During the month of February, the book club will be reading “The Golden Compass” by Philip Pullman. “The Golden Compass” is a thrilling and controversial adventure that dances between two parallel worlds and follows the life of the charmingly defiant Lyra Belacqua. This book discussion isn’t one to miss.

There’s also plenty of fun for the kids, too. Children can learn to make Valentine crafts at the Library’s Valentine’s Day Craft. The program will take place just in time for Valentine’s Day, on at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 12.

There will also be a LEGO day, where children are encouraged to make masterpieces with the Library’s LEGOs where they’ll be proudly displayed. LEGO day will be held at 3:30 p.m Feb. 24. Younger participants must have parental supervision.

For those in between, there will be a Tween Game Day at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 19. This program will be great for tweens to practice teamwork skills and learn tactics while still having fun.

These events will all take place in addition to the Turlock Library’s continuing Story Times. WiggleWorms, meant for the youngest of readers from babies to toddlers, is held on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Preschool Story Time is held Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

The Turlock Library is located on 550 Minaret Ave. For more information, call the Turlock Library at 209-664-8100.
