Turlock Mom, Toddler Struck By Car on Lander Avenue

A Turlock woman and her two-year-old son were struck by a vehicle while bicycling yesterday evening, sending the toddler to the hospital with serious injuries.

Erika Tripp and her son were crossing Lander Avenue on bike, near South Avenue, when the incident occurred at approximately 7:19 p.m. yesterday evening. They were hit by a 2002 Honda vehicle.

Turlock police say the boy was transported by helicopter to an area hospital with severe injuries. The boy was in a child’s seat on the rear of the bike. It is unknown if he was wearing a helmet or not.

Police say the driver of the Honda was not speeding, and that the driver was traveling northbound on Lander Avenue. The accident remains under investigation.
