Turlock Police Chief Back to Work

Turlock Police Chief Rob Jackson returned to the job on July 1, after missing three months of work due to an undisclosed medical issue.

Jackson went on medical leave in April. According to Turlock Police Sgt. Stephen Webb, Jackson is feeling great and is happy to be back at work.

“He is very thankful for the support he received not only from his family but from his co-workers and the community,” Webb said.

Turlock Support Operations Capt. Steve Williams served as Acting Chief of Police in Jackson's absence. Webb said Williams did a “great job” in the interim role.

Jackson was named Chief of Police on Feb. 14, 2012. He replaced interim chief Dave Young, who took over in July of 2012 when former chief Gary Hampton accepted a post at the Tracy Police Department.

Jackson has served with the Turlock Police Department since 2007, and was a captain prior to his promotion. He also ran for Stanislaus County Sheriff in 2010, losing to incumbent Sheriff Adam Christianson.
