Turlock Police Find Loaded, Stolen Handgun During Traffic Stop

A suspect was taken into custody on gun charges Friday afternoon when police discovered he was in possession of a loaded firearm that had been reported stolen from a Turlock burglary last month.

Officers made a traffic stop on Friday shortly before 5 p.m. after a driver failed to make a complete stop at a stop sign at N. Tully Road and Canal Drive, said Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.

As officers attempted to catch up, the driver turned onto Roth Court, but failed to signal, said Webb.

Once stopped, an officer noticed the driver, later identified as Rodolfo Ramos-Guzman, 21, had brass knuckles on his lap, said Webb.

The officer told Ramos-Guzman that he was under arrest for possession of an illegal weapon, however the suspect refused to get out of the vehicle, said Webb.

Ramos-Guzman actively resisted being taken into custody, said Webb, however officers were ultimately to apprehend the suspect.

While searching the vehicle, officers located a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen from a burglary in Turlock on April 2, said Webb.

Ramos-Guzman was arrested for possession of brass knuckles, possession of a stolen handgun, possession of a loaded handgun in a vehicle, and resisting arrest.
