Turlock School Board Meeting Agenda Includes Common Core Update

The Turlock Unified School District will hold a public Board of Trustees meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 at the Professional Development Center, 1100 Cahill Ave.

Prior to the public portion of the meeting the board will meet in closed session to discuss on-going labor negotiations, as well as two potential litigation cases.

The public portion of the meeting will begin with an inspirational message from the TUSD Character Counts Students of the Month, Crowell Elementary School students Abel Medina and Nevien Mohsen.

Following the inspiration the board will recognize TUSD employee Dennis Baer, who is retiring after 36 years.

On the consent calendar the Board of Trustees will consider accepting a donation from Robert Gioletti & Sons Dairy in the amount of $2,000 for the District Ag Farm. Also on the consent calendar the district will vote to approve numerous personnel services contracts for school assemblies and activities.

During the public comment period, which will be opened at 7:03 p.m., speakers will be able to bring any issues in front of the board. Speakers are limited to three minutes per person.

Then, at 7:15 p.m., the board is scheduled to receive an update on the Common Core State Standards Implementation Plan, as well as information on inter-district transfer rates.

Lastly the board will receive information on policy updates to uniform complaint procedures. Adjournment is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
