Turlock High School, Julien Elementary, and Sacred Heart were recently on lockdown due to a possible gunman in the area, however the lockdowns have been lifted following further investigation.

Turlock police responded to the 1300 block of Lyons Avenue after receiving report of an weapon offense at approximately 9:23 a.m.

According to Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis, a subject involved in a disturbance with family members allegedly brandished a firearm.

That subject later fled the residence and was possibly in possession of the firearm.

For the safety of the schools in the area, Turlock police recommended a lockdown of area schools, which includes Turlock High School and Sacred Heart, said Lewis.

Through further investigation, officers found that the subject was not in possession of the firearm and had left it at the residence.

The lockdowns were lifted at approximately 10:10 a.m.; the schools were locked down for around 10 to 15 minutes, according to Lewis.

Lewis added that the subject believed to be armed is no longer wanted by authorities.
