Turlock to Celebrate Independence Day with Parade, Car Show, Fireworks

With July 4 just around the corner, locals are excitedly preparing for the annual Downtown Turlock Independence Day Parade, Street Fair, and Car Show.

With car show forms, food permits, and parade entries in, the Turlock Downtown Property Owners Association is looking forward to another successful year of patriotism, celebration, vintage cars, food, and fun to celebrate America’s birthday.

The family-friendly day will host a patriotic parade including businesses, non-profits, and neighbors of the community beginning at 10 a.m. Vendors will open up for the street fair following the patriotic procession at 11 a.m. and the car show will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Expect models of all colors and shapes too, as the car show is open to all years and makes of trucks and rat rods, as well as Volkswagens and motorcycles.

There will also be a trophy for each class, as well as event t-shirts and participation plaques for car owners in the show.

According to the Turlock Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), Farmers Market will still be hold that Friday morning, July 4 beginning at 8 a.m. As always, the market will showcase seasonal produce, fresh food highlighting local ingredients, and unique hand-crafted items. The market takes place at South Broadway Street between West Main Street and A Street, downtown.

And in case you won’t be near the barbecue for the big day but are craving a burger, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5059 of Turlock will be hosting one of their weekly hamburger nights at the VFW Hall, located at 1405 E. Linwood Avenue, offering hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and fries ranging from $2 to $6.50.

As a grand finale, the fireworks show will be held at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, located at 900 N. Broadway. Entry and parking are both free, and gates open at 6 p.m. The CVB urges visitors to bring blankets or lawn chairs, baskets of food, soft drinks, and water to “enjoy a great evening of fun.” They also remind fireworks-goers that no alcohol or any glass bottles are allowed and guests may not bring their own fireworks. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. and will end by midnight.
