Turlock Youth Performing Arts Presents “Once on This Island”

This weekend, Turlock Youth Performing Arts will present “Once on This Island Jr.,” a musical about a young peasant girl who resides on a tropical island and uses the power of love to bring people of different social classes together.

The original Broadway play “Once on this Island” premiered in 1990 and won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 1995. Being nominated for various Tony awards, the musical has been a hit on and off Broadway both in the United States and internationally.

With hit songs such as “One Small Girl,” “Forever Yours,” and “Waiting for Life,” the musical is said to be a fun-filled performance that the whole family can enjoy.

Turlock Youth Performing Arts was formed by a dedicated group of parents looking for a musical theater program where children could develop artistically and socially. Offering five different musical programs for children of all ages, the Turlock Youth Performance Arts believes that children grow confidence through art that “touches their lives in many ways both on and off the stage.”
