TUSD Schools To Have Shorter Wednesdays

Brandon McMillan/TurlockCityNews.com

Beginning on Aug. 20, the first Wednesday of the 2014-15 school year, all Turlock Unified School District students will be dismissed at earlier times — with the exception of Roselawn High School and eCademy Charter.

Students seventh- through 12th-grade will be released 50 minutes early and first- through sixth-grade will be released 45 minutes early. All a.m. and p.m. transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students will be released at their regular time.

According to TUSD Assistant Superintendent – Educational Services Dana Trevethan, the new release times were developed as part of the district’s ongoing transition to the Common Core State Standards, which officially begin this year.

As part of the TUSD Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) the district identified goals and actions, including increased teacher collaboration time. The early release times will allow teachers the opportunity to focus on analyzing student learning and adapting instruction to meet all need for both intervention and enrichment.

Site specific bell schedules can be seen at the TUSD website.
