At about 8:22pm Wednesday, Turlock Police responded to a shoplifting in progress at Target in the 3000 block of Countryside Drive.

The caller was a Target Asset Protection Specialist who reported that there were two subjects, a man and a woman, inside the business loading shopping carts with merchandise. She also reported that the man had stolen from them before and would often exit through the north fire door.

Officer Kauffman arrived on scene and located a vehicle parked on the north side of Famous Footwear. He contacted and identified a man inside it, who turned out to be on post release community supervision for possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.

The man’s PRCS status allowed Kauffman to search his phone, discovering text messages with Isaiah Gomez, 29, of Turlock, indicating Gomez had been inside the store.

Officer Nwando arrived on scene and spoke with asset protection, who stated that Gomez had left a cart full of items in the store and was walking toward McDonald’s.

Nwando located and contacted Gomez, who identified himself as someone else.

Officer Ayala then contacted Desirae Ramirez, 30, of Turlock, as she exited the store. She was identified and discovered to have a $5,500 misdemeanor bench warrant out of Modesto for shoplifting. She was also restrained from Gomez and on searchable probation for assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.

When confronted about lying, Gomez admitted to who he actually was. He was discovered to have a misdemeanor bench warrant out of Modesto for shoplifting as well.

Gomez and Ramirez were both arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on their warrants. Gomez was also charged with falsely identifying to a peace officer, while Ramirez was charged with violation of a domestic violence protective order.

The man who was on PRCS and in communication with Gomez was released.
