Two arrested after being caught attempting to steal catalytic converter Tuesday night

On Tuesday, June 27th, 2023, at 8:05 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported attempted larceny from a vehicle that had just occurred in front of a residence in the 100 block of W Syracuse Ave, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, they found and contacted two men who identified themselves as Antonio Pereira, 44, of Rohnert Park, and Silvio Pereira, 43, of Delhi.

Officers began investigating and learned that Antonio and Silvio had both been caught attempting to steal a catalytic converter, which was valued at more than $950, off of a vehicle. They also learned that the saw Antonio had been using to attempt to do so had been reported stolen out of San Ramon.

Antonio and Silvio were both arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of attempted grand theft and conspiracy. Antonio was also charged with buying or receiving stolen property.
